From Theory to Practice, the Hess’s Law Investigation
IB Chemistry students continue to develop their experimental skills as they returned to school recently.
They investigated the complexity of Hess’s Law and energy associated with various chemical reactions, and how these reactions can be linked to real life applications.
“It is great to see the students enthusiastic about their return to practical work as they completed a practice IA to determine the Enthalpy Change for the Decomposition of Potassium Hydrogen Carbonate. Students worked to collect and process appropriate data to enable scientific conclusions to be drawn”, commented Ms Lorraine Harte, Teacher of IB Chemistry.
