Year 8s follow Leonardo da Vinci’s lead to find inspiration.

Just as Leonardo da Vinci took engineering inspiration from a falling sycamore seed, Year 8s this week studied nature’s patterns to build their own structures.

In a project about Biomimetic Architecture Year 8 Island Time students used nature’s best design ideas to create towers, domes and platforms.

Vice Principal Gareth Steven said: “These lessons are a way of developing creative thinking, we don’t want students just to make a building or a structure we are encouraging them to find different ways of approaching a problem and showing them that they can find inspiration in unexpected places.
