Talking Talent a Showcase of Creativity
At an evening to celebrate the creativity of BTEC and IB Art students, visitors heard how students developed their ideas from concepts to final designs and products, on the 13 March 2018.
The IB Visual Arts and BTEC Art and Design students showcased their creative talents at an exhibition that marks the end of their two year journey. Head of Visual Arts Ms Helen Palmer said, “The Art Department would like to congratulate all of our Year 13 Art students who curated an excellent show and took great pride in explaining to visitors how they developed their initial concepts through to finished pieces of artwork.”
Drama students performed their version of Grimm Tales to a packed-house. Chefs from the Hospitality classes served paella and classic European dishes with a modern Asian twist (in preparation for the Year 13 Hospitality fine dining meal on 24th April). Year 12 students also served dishes they designed themselves, such as rainbow fortune cookies and biryani balls. Film and Media students showcased their music videos, using special effects, multi-mage, lip synching, and lyric interpretation to create original works.
Business Studies students talked about their recent trip to the Maekok River Village Resort in Chiang Rai, Thailand and what they learnt from investigating the hotel’s structures and processes. While Sports Studies students explained how taking on coaching roles has increase their confidence and planning skills.
