Students Find the Route From Innovation to Market

At robot design company, Innovation First International Ltd, Year 12 IB Diploma Design Technology students heard how to transform innovation into a marketable product, 1 Sep 2017. Company President, Andy Lee explained the importance of innovation in the competitive market of toys and robot design. Students then tested and evaluated new products.

As part of the CAS programme some Design and Technology students will coach a group of Year 7 & 8s to design and build a robot for the VEX IQ Ringmaster Challenge Competition, held in February. At their visit to IFI Ltd, students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the game and received instructions from the game organisers.

Design and Technology Teacher Andy York said, “Andy’s talk gave a commercial context to the work they have studied on Innovation and Design in the IB Design Technology curriculum.”
