Sailing Team Qualifies for the Gold Medal Division at Race Event
At the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s annual race weekend Island School’s team of nine sailors won the majority of their races to qualify for the gold medal round-robin of Division A, 4th-5th March.
The event grows each year and comprised of over 120 team races over the two days. Senior Teacher Julian Reed: “The team did really well to win most of their races on the first day to qualify for the gold medal round-robin of Division A. On Sunday they one won of their four races but it is fair to say that they were beaten by some excellent teams to finish just outside the medals in 5th place overall. This is an improvement from last year and they are keen to get among the medals next year.”
Well done to the team of Christophe Hatterer, Lumière Ng, Abhishek Patel, Jared Smithers, Isabel Leenknegt, Rahel Wijeyekoon, and especially to team captain Ryan Wong and co-leaders Lauren McLean and Noemi Hatterer.
