Dear Parents

Elements courses play a very important role in the successful formula of Island School. They provide an invaluable opportunity for students to explore their passions in a manner that connects learning to life beyond schooling.

Last year when we worked with external experts to conduct an audit of teaching practices, it was evident that teachers generate innovative and rich learning environments.

The audit and the subsequent review also made the following recommendations as to how Elements courses could be further improved:-

• Review IGCSE offerings so that an extra science is available
• Review each Elements course to ensure they meet the high standards expected
• Plan to introduce new courses that ensure that the courses remain innovative and match student’s interests.

A committee of teachers had been formed to address the recommendations and they have already made considerable progress.

Island School is a great school and we owe it to our students to continually strive to be better. Reviews like these play a very important role in meeting that commitment.
