Message From The Principal, 25 Jan 2019
Dear parent / care giver
As we move into the Chinese New Year period I would like to wish everyone Gung Hei Fat Choy and a prosperous Year of the pig.
Island Giving
To mark the approach of the lunar new year we, the Island School Trust, is launching the Giving programme for 2019 and in the spirit of the season the giving portal is open on the school’s website.
Last year the Island School Trust awarded $344000 to projects proposed by students and teachers including:-
- cutting edge science equipment to facilitate student research
- visiting specialist mentors to work with students
- subsidies for students to attend international competitions
Island School students have big dreams and an extraordinary motivation to achieve them. The work of the Island School Trust is to add value to the resources provided by the school. It plays a critical role in ensuring every student achieves their potential.
The programme also supports the schools’ charities such as the Nicola Myers & Kenneth McBride Memorial Fund which provides grants to highly motivated, underprivileged local school students so that they might make the most of their education to reposition their lives. The NMKM Fund and the other school charities of Baiwan and Katya House have played a seminal role in an Island School education over many years.
The work of the Island Trust has become increasingly important in recent years. I realise that you are approached for assistance by many worthy causes however the Island School Trust remains the best way to support our school and ensure that our proud legacy endures.
