Message From The Principal, 12 Oct 2018
Dear parents and caregivers
This is the last newsletter before half term break which has come at the right time for many of our students. Our Year 7’s have embraced their transition to secondary wonderfully but a combination of the heat and the stairs means that some rest and recreation is well earned. For many older students the break will give them the chance to refocus their studies.
Thank you for all of your support this half term. We have achieved a lot already because of the strong parent / school partnership and I look forward to what lies ahead.
Island School has been supporting the Bai Wan community for over 20 years and in doing so has made a dramatic impact on the lives of local children. This week we held loose change days which raised $7209.10 for the Bai Wan charity.
This charity holds a special place in the hearts of Islanders and this legacy will be honoured again this year when a group of our students visit during quest week to deliver English lessons, provide fellowship and support the development of much needed programmes such as breakfast clubs.
The amazing success of these two charities is due to the support of the generous parents, alumni and benefactors. If you are in a position to help I urge you to visit the Island Giving section of the school website https://island.edu.hk/isgiving/ and donate. Alternatively come to the next Island School Alliance function where incredible success stories and the inspiring student leadership that drives it will be shared, along with other exciting school developments.
The next Alliance function will be held a 6.30pm on 24th October at Club Lusitano in central. Tickets are $500 and all funds raised will be shared between these two worthy charities. Tickets are limited and can be arranged by contacting Project Manager James Tuffs by emailing james.tufts@online.island.edu.hk
