Message from the Middle Phase VP, Nick Lee

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I do hope that you are as excited as I am for the return to school from Monday next week.

Yesterday on Thursday, 21 May, we had a staff training day and it was great to see so many happy faces back on site. The day was spent preparing for return of students and I can assure you that we will be making the most of every opportunity for face-to-face teaching and learning.

Today we welcomed Year 12 students back to the Sha Tin Wai site and they all followed the health and safety procedures without incident which is a great relief  – we have every confidence things will go as well next week at Tai Wai for Year 9 and 10.

Please see below for some brief reminders for all students coming to Tai Wai, and do share with your child:

  • Bring the completed temperature form every day you come to school

  • Bring a water bottle, packed lunch and two face masks

  • Arrive at school between 7.30am and 7.50am

  • Enter the school via the playground gates and line up in the covered area for temperature taking

  • Make your way straight to your form room

There are a couple of final reminders. When a Year Group is not in school for the day, lessons will continue as they have been over the last 12 weeks online using Google Classroom and Zoom.

If your child is unable to attend their in-school classes for any reason, the lessons will be posted on Google Classroom before 8.00am on that day so they can access all resources and instructions.

Finally, can I reiterate on behalf of all of the staff at Island School Tai Wai how much I am looking forward to the return of our students.

Best wishes,
Nick Lee

N.B. On Tuesday, 26 May, Year 11 will be doing PE during Periods 7 & 8. You need to complete the sign-up form to be placed on your choice of PE activity. Please also remember to come to school dressed in your PE kit on this day.
