Winter Fair 2023
“Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring ting tingling too!” The IS Winter Fair is quickly approaching and the ISPTA and student leader elves have been hard at work behind the scenes already making their lists and checking them twice. We are so excited to have everyone join in the merriment on 1 December from 4.00 – 8.30 p.m.
There will be a free shuttle bus service, details to follow in the days ahead (kindly be reminded that there are NO PARKING spaces allocated for Fair attendees. In addition to the bus service offered by Island School, the #9 mini-bus is available, originating at the Exchange Square bus depot.)
The proceeds from the Winter Fair will be dedicated to enhancing the LG03 playground space as a purposeful space for play, lunch and games. To continue ISPTA’s commitment to charity, the proceeds from the Christmas Market will be donated to the Island School’s N & K Bursaries to support disadvantaged Hong Kong secondary school students.
There are many ways in which you can contribute to the success of our Winter Fair:
- Be a volunteer
We warmly invite parents to extend their support at the various games and food hall stalls. Many hands are still needed and we are looking for volunteers across all areas with various time slots, usually just an hour in length. VOLUNTEER HERE - Share your baking skills
A beloved part of the International Food Hall is our baked goods stall, the Bakers’ Corner. We would be grateful to receive any and all sweet treats that you can whip up at home and share with our community. The sweeter, the better! BAKED TREATS FORM. - Tickle your taste buds at our international food hall
Thanks to the cooking mamas and papas, we have an amazing choice of cuisines including Chinese, Japanese, Korean & Southeast Asian. There’s also the Baker’s Corner, Curry Corner, Italian & Hungarian selection, HK snacks, and the crowd favourite BBQ Burgers. Popcorn, cotton candy, coffee and a selection of drinks will be offered in collaboration with APC. And let’s not forget our fabulous students selling hot chocolate to tickle our taste buds. Come hungry, leave satisfied! - Help us be Green and BYO!
The Winter Fair continues Island School’s commitment to the environment and aspires to be our greenest school fair ever! Support the cause by BYO food containers, water bottles and even cutlery, or use our reusable plates, cutlery & cups available at the food hall. How close can we get to zero-waste? - Building upon our commitment to the environment
A significant number of Island School students actively run WANBO, a group focused on reducing our impact on the Earth. These students will be hosting several stalls selling gently used school uniforms as well as second-hand books. We are still seeking your generous donations of gently used books and uniforms so that our selection can genuinely include something for everyone. You may drop your donations of uniforms and books in the collection box outside of the ISPTA office (room G03). - Make your list and check it twice. There’s shopping to be done!
No Winter Fair would be complete without a merry line-up of Christmas and winter holiday items. Act fast to get one of the festive “Island School” ornaments brought to you by our friends at The Lion Rock Press. Bookazine will also be well-represented along with other local favourites offering goodies large and small. - Christmas Wreath Pre-order
