Introduction to Iris Chan, Community Liaison Officer
My role is being a bridge between Island School and the community around our new campuses.
Before joining Island School in October 2017, I spent a year in Germany on a working holiday. Before that, I was a reporter at Next Magazine. I wrote a lot of feature stories and sometimes covered the exclusive stories. I wrote about politics, society, business and so on. I also worked as a research assistant in the Department of Social Sciences at the Education University of Hong Kong (formerly known as The Hong Kong Institute of Education) from 2011 to 2012. I assisted a professor to complete the manuscript on Chinese Politics. When I was a student at university, I worked for the Home Affairs Department as a community organizer for 2 years. I assisted the liaison officer to form the mutual aid committees for some estates. All these experiences make me feel confident to face the coming challenges.
I am currently busy starting up the community library. I hope Island School will have a great and smooth start in Sha Tin.
