Inter-house Biodiversity Challenge 2022
The inter-house biodiversity challenge kicks off on Friday, 29 April. This year your observations will not just be used to pitch yourself against the other Houses at Island School but also goes toward the 2022 City Nature Challenge where we see Hong Kong take on major cities around the world from London to New York, LA to Cape Town and Sydney to Rio.
Starting from 29 April to 9 May, simply get out into the wilds of Hong Kong and log as many species as possible using the iNaturalist app. Points will be awarded based on the number of observers per house, most observations and most species recorded. This competition is open to families, teachers, staff, and students so everyone can get involved!
Follow the instructions below to take part.
- Download the iNaturalist app
- Set up an account and create a username.
- Log your username in this Google Form. This is important as otherwise your data will not get logged to the Island School Platform.
- Get outdoors and take pictures of nature (fungi, plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, etc,) through the app. That does mean things in the wild, so no pets, no pot plants, no plastic toys, no taking pictures of animals on laptops and no siblings as we had all of these last year!!!
Although we do encourage everyone stepping outside for some fresh air and enjoy the beauty of nature, please make sure you stay safe and abide by preventive measures strictly amidst the pandemic. Good luck and have a great weekend ahead!
