Hyatt’s Top Tasters Try Students’ Dishes
The heat was on in the kitchen for the Year 12 BTEC Hospitality students, on the 17 Jan 2019, with the Executive Chef Mr Cheung Hong Man and General Manager Mr Wilson Lee from the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin judging their dishes.
In teams students were challenged to design their own Asian themed restaurant menu. This week they made meat, seafood and vegetarian starters. Following the tasting session the best dishes will make it onto the final menu for a charity pop-up fine dining restaurant event in April. The head chef and manager of the Sha Tin Hyatt was invited to judge the dishes alongside Hospitality and Business BTEC teachers Mr Roger Wilkinson and Mr Ben Pawlyn.
Head of Food Technology Mr Chris Lord said, “The standard of food was very high and the students plated up some lovely dishes making a decision very hard, but eventually we decided that going through to the final menu, are the following dishes: Kimchi Pancakes, Mulligatawny, Soup, Thai Shrimp Cakes and California Sushi Rolls.”
