Heart the matter

In the Heart and Lungs inter-disciplinary unit in Year 8 Science, students explored the structure of the heart.

They conducted a heart dissection and observed different parts of this vital organ, such as left and right ventricles and atriums, key blood vessels such as the aorta and explored the differences in the thickness of the heart walls on the left and right hand side. Students were able to describe where oxygenated and deoxygenated blood flows through the heart, and were very excited to return to practical activities in the laboratory.
