Green Week 2022 Events
Green Week 2022 is approaching. Officially starting on the 7th of March, with the intent of promoting environmental awareness and developing student passion for protecting the environment, get ready for all the activities and competitions that WANBO has prepared throughout the week!
Despite everything being undertaken virtually this year, the WANBO team has organised a wide range of environmentally-themed competitions that students from all years can enter and participate in—we highly encourage all students to participate and get involved in at least one activity.
This year’s Green Week will include the following competitions:
1. An environmentally-friendly selfie competition (inter-house event!)
Take a photo of yourself wearing house colours while doing something environmentally-friendly! This can be anything from cooking something plant-based to watering your houseplants.
Photos can be submitted through this google form, and the deadline for this competition is the 13 March, at 11:59pm. Each person can submit up to 3 photos, and each photo will be counted towards house points.
2. Nature photography competition
We also have a nature photography contest judged by award-winning wildlife photographer James Gifford for those who are strongly interested in photography! There are three categories you can enter—please make sure to follow the instructions on the slide.
3. An endangered animals baking competition
Produce a treat that looks like an endangered animal! Mr Lord will be judging; success criteria includes presentation and creativity of the dish.
Send us your entries through this google form by the 13 March, at 11:59pm.
4. Voices for the Planet 2022
‘Voices for the Planet’ is a fantastic opportunity for you to demonstrate your talent, a competition run by a nonprofit organisation Lumivoce that ‘inspires and educates the young to fall in love with nature’. There are five sub-competitions you can enter. Click here to learn more. The deadline for submissions is the 22 May, at 11:59pm.
Students are also recommended to complete these activities in their free time:
a. Finding the PFAs (Polyfluoroalkyl Substances)
b. Brainpop Online Games
c. Live one day like a vegetarian/vegan
- How did you feel?
- Would you continue this habit?
- Do you like meat or do you prefer vegetables?
d. Try out this fun grabbing game!
Feel free to email your campus WANBO Leaders with any questions or concerns. We hope that you’re just as excited as we are for Green Week and that you’ll enjoy these activities!
