Gardening tribute at Sha Tin Wai

To extend Island School’s gratitude to the local community for their continuous support throughout the decant years, the Back to Borrett B2B, Students Gardening Tribute team planted two flower beds outside of the Sha Tin Wai Campus on 15 June 2022.

The team spent two months preparing and liaising with the estate management to plan how best to use the urban green space. This week they planted 6 tea olive plants (referred to as sweet osmanthus) and 10 anthuriums with help from Horticulturist, Mr. Melsom .

The B2B team were supported by Mr. Davis and Mr. Burrough, during the administrative process.

Katrina Hon from 10R and Alexandra Lai from 10W, the student leaders said, “This has been a truly memorable experience. It has been a great way for the team to get involved with the local community, and a great opportunity for students to handle plants and try gardening.”

Katrina added, “This process also helped us to improve our communication and collaboration skills.”
