Connected Communities Committee

The Connected Communities Committee has been launched to ensure Island School’s links with its Sha Tin partners are maintained. Following last year’s thank you packages distribution activity, the committee is planning a connected Communities Week from Monday 4th December to Friday 9th December. The week will include: Run for Sha Tin, carnival games, a You Make Us Great Bulletin Board and more!

All of these will culminate in a Connected Communities Open Day at Island School in January 2023, where visitors from Shatin will celebrate our return to our new Borrett Road campus with us through a Community English Graduation Day with NYSS students, fun basketball games, whole school scavenger hunts, afternoon tea for our senior citizens, and more!

Keep an eye out for other events that may be hosted by the committee in the future!

Joseph Lau (13D) and Sam Hui (13W), Head of the Connected Communities Committee, commented, “We’re so grateful for all the support we have been given both inside and outside of Island School to make this endeavour possible. This event truly highlights the spirit of our school and our long-lasting relationship with our community, regardless of our location. We can’t wait to see everyone’s excitement during the week – it’ll mark one of Island School’s biggest events back at Borrett! We look forward to seeing you all in the upcoming events!”

“The drive, energy and spirit of this initiative represents the genuine gratitude felt by our Island School community towards our neighbours in the Shatin-wide community,” explained Connected Communities Committee Teacher Advisor, Ms Mary-Lacey Vittachi.

As the committee aims to continue strengthening relationships with the school’s neighbouring communities, more events will be announced in the future. If you are interested in joining the Committee, please contact Mrs Mary-Lacey Vittachi or Mr Ross Burrough.
