PTA Career Fair 2017 – Career Representatives Welcomed

Date and time: 8:10am – 11am 1 June 2017 (Thursday),
Location: Island School, 20 Borret Road,  Mid Level, Hong Kong

The programme for Career Booth Representatives will be as follows:
8-8:30am arrival and set up in School Hall
8:30am – 10:50am   Career Representatives having conversations with students at the booths
10:50-11am closing and pack up.

This Higher Education and PTA event aims to give students the chance to explore the varied and interesting world of work.
We hope that students will learn how to communicate with professionals and it will help them with academic decisions.    In previous years we have had career representatives from a range of occupations and this year we hope to offer more varied careers to reflect the job market trends.

Around 350 students mainly from Years 8-10 take part in the event, other year groups are welcome to join.  Examples of the questions students might ask are:

Choosing Job questions:

1. Why did you choose this job/career/occupation?
2. Did you have many other jobs before you began the job you have now?
3. Did you know what you wanted to do when you were our age?

Skills and Experience questions:

1. What is the academic qualification required for this job? (degree, professional certification etc)
2. Does your job require special aptitudes, skills or talents? What are they?
3. Do you find that your job field changes often?  How do you update your knowledge and skills?
