Amazon Tribal Leaders
Island School had the privilege of hosting two esteemed elders from the Huni Kuin Tribe and the director of the NGO ‘Mothers of the Amazon’! These indigenous guardians of the Amazon rainforest shared their remarkable stories and eye-opening insights on the devastating effects of deforestation, and the way-of-life of indigenous peoples.
Their visit left a lasting impact on the school community, fostering a deep connection with the Amazon and nurturing our growth as compassionate Global Citizens. Together, we gained a newfound understanding of the real human consequences of global issues.
