Afternoon Tea Delights With the Tai Wai Community
The Elements Class ‘The Food Lovers’ Guide’, ISSJ Group and Community English all teamed up to host local elderly residents and staff for an afternoon of food, music and magic to help celebrate Chinese New Year on Wednesday, 22 January.
Held on the Tai Wai campus, the Food Lovers Guide students, supervised by Mr Chris Lord and Ms Chileshe Chisulo, made and served a range of delicious food, alongside music and table magic tricks to entertain the guests.
Translation services were also kindly provided by members of the Community English and ISSJ teams.
The food was a big hit with the residents, who complimented the students for making such “delicious and tasty food”. Sean Lee (10N) and Sam Hui (10W) were also a big hit with their magic tricks, surprising and delighting each table with their abilities.
All of the students worked extremely hard to make this event a success, “I am very proud of all of the students, they did an amazing job of showcasing their skills and their willingness to get involved,” said Mr Chris Lord.
Local councillor Thomas Cheung, who represented Sun Chui Estate councilor Raymond Li, praised the students and the staff for arranging the event, explaining that the residents were very happy to have been invited, and expressed a desire to “hold more events like this in the future, to develop stronger links in the community.”
