Writers’ Block visited Glenealy
Elements course Writers’ Block visited Glenealy Primary School, 22nd January, to read stories they had written about migration and settlement – espousing to the topics being studied by their audience – Year 4 students.
Before putting pen to paper the Writers asked the primary students what type of narrative and characters they like and created stories based on their feedback. These tales of journeys and change were written as part of the Writer’s Block creative writing course which each week looks at different styles, formats and genres of writing. Students learn how to adapt language and narrative according to their audience.
English Teacher, Sarah Jolly said; “Reading your own work to a young audience is very brave but the Glenealy students responded very positively to the stories and readers.” “I think everyone really enjoyed the experience and we will definitely go back next year.”
