Breast Cancer Awareness Week 2019
Bake sales, open mics and a dress pink day saw Island School students advocate and raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation from, 14th-18th October 2019.
Students hosted an open mic on Tuesday, with baked treats on sale in the playground. On Friday, students and staff all dressed in pink and purchased ribbons to show their support for breast cancer awareness. In assembly the whole school heard the facts and statistics about the cancer.
Chemistry Teacher Mrs Thomson, lead teacher of Breast Cancer Awareness Week said, “I was extremely impressed with the hard work of the teams of students who organised and ran the events on both campuses and I really appreciate that all students in 11F and 12F put time and effort into raising both awareness and funds when it is such a busy time for them. I hope everyone enjoyed this week and will be keen to participate again next year.”
“I’d also like to thank all the students and staff who wore pink on Friday and all those who generously donated to this worthy cause – the amount we raised for the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation is amazing and something Island School can be very proud of.”
