Clever Cooking – students make a meal of it
A massive congratulations to all Year 12 – 13 students, studying food related courses, who made all the food for the staff CPD day on 5th September. The dishes were made using fresh ingredients (no processed foods). All the vegetables were supplied from Magic Season Organics.
The Year 13 IB Food Science students made the healthy breakfast and coffee break snacks and drinks including; quesadillas, focaccia, hummus, banana muffins, frozen yoghurt, fruit salad and iced tea and milk tea.
The new Year 12 Hospitality students were in charge of the roast pork carvery, with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and the poached salmon salad bar. They did an amazing job considering some of them had not cooked in the Food Tech room before.
The Year 13 BTEC hospitality students worked in groups to develop and make 40 portions of their own desserts. The groups made: Japanese lemon cheesecake with brunt lemon and cream; mango and dragon-fruit bavarois; and peach cheesecake. All of these dishes were presented to an exceptional standard and were of amazing quality.
In total 120 people was served and the feedback was unbelievable, with some staff saying it was the best meal they had ever had at school.
