Pride Week 2018
Island School’s annual Pride Week, run by the Social Justice Spectrum group, aimed to inform, and raise awareness about the stigmas those in the LGBTQ+ community face, from the 19- 23 of March 2018.
In House groups students created chalk pictures that they felt embodied LGBT+ issues. Workshops and talks were held for Year 7’s and 8’s to raise awareness and educate the younger students about LGBTQ+. In the colours of the rainbow and the LGBT+ flag students dressed casual or baked and sold cakes. And steps were decorated in rainbow colours.
Students were encouraged to take photos of the week’s events and enter them into a competition. All were displayed at the campuses’ main entrance.
