Musica Viva
The Advanced Music Elements class performed in and organised an informal recital entitled ‘Musica Viva’ on Monday 13 June 2018. The pieces performed ranged in style from Baroque violin sonatas to Polish dances as well as Japanese anime piano pieces.
Ex-Islander Bethan Clark coached the students on presentation skills, performance technique and event management.
The Advanced Music students also invited groups of students from the STW campus, making Musica Viva a cross-campus event. Zoe So, 10F said, “Playing in front of other musicians was nerve-racking but I learnt to overcome my fears and this has given me more confidence”.
Phil Tudor, teacher of Advanced Music said, “Students always do well in exams when we record them playing down a microphone, but adding a live audience adds another dimension. I was really impressed with how well all students performed. I would like to congratulate them for all their hard work, it made for a lovely afternoon!”
