Year 6 Students Visit Start Learning in Labs
Students from Island School’s partner primary school the Peak School visited the Tai Wai campus science labs on 28 Sep 2018. The Year 6 students used Bunsen burners -learning about energy transfer and states of matter.
Throughout the year students from Year 4, 5 and 6 will be visiting an Island School science laboratory, under the supervision of Biology Teacher Mrs Fiona Wightman.
Kate Sommerville Senior Head of House and teacher in charge of the transition process explains more about it, “Island School runs a comprehensive transition and experiential learning programme with our partner primary schools which includes opportunities for students to visit Art exhibitions, watch whole school productions, experience science lessons in our laboratories as well as compete in Gecko Maths competitions.”
“Alongside the monthly science visits we are developing an enhancement and enrichment programme – the Island Academy to extend the learning of some of our partner primary students, building on their inquiry and concept based learning skills.
