Year 12 Field Trip to Little Palm Beach
On Thursday 26th September, all Year 12 IB Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) students went on a field trip to Little Palm Beach in Clear Water Bay. This experience provided an invaluable opportunity for hands-on learning and fieldwork, allowing students to apply their knowledge and understanding of the Ecology topic.
Students engaged in studies focusing on the changes in biodiversity along the shoreline, observing how various species thrive in different zones. Additionally, they investigated the differences in shell sizes of gastropods found on exposed versus unexposed shores, highlighting the impact of environmental conditions on these organisms.
Over the coming weeks, students will analyse their collected data using statistical methods, fostering their skills in scientific inquiry and data interpretation. This trip not only enhanced our understanding of coastal ecosystems but also strengthened our collaborative efforts in conducting meaningful research.
