Student Environmental Ambassador Present @ Quarry Bay School
Quarry Bay School invited two Year 11 Island School students Katya Foong and Grace Zheng to talk about their films explaining why Indonesian Orangutans are endangered, on the 18 March 2019.
Their presentation was part of Quarry Bay School’s Action Speaker Week which sees organisations from all over Hong Kong coming to inspire their Year 6 students as they embark on their ‘Exhibition’ work.
Katya and Grace’s two short films explain why Indonesian Orangutans are endangered and what can be done to support the animals. The films include interviews with staff at the Wildlife Rescue Centre Jogja who explain their conservation work. The film makers visited the center, during Quest Week 2018. When the films where launched the SCMP Young Post interviewed them about the documentary making process.
Thomas Cousins a Year 6 Teacher at QBS said, “Grace and Katya spoke confidently and tailored their talk for our students expertly. They also dealt with questions effectively and never seemed flustered. The Year 6 students were buzzing after the talk with ideas for actions of their own.”
