The speakers at FuturED gave their predictions for the future. Journalists Eric Wishart explained how user generated content is leading the news agenda, Senior Counsel Paul Shieh’s comments echoed those of Wishart as he discussed the medias  affect on the Rule of Law.

Economist Ross O’Brien explained that China as a market force is still big and powerful but it is maturing and slowing down.

Much of the day looked at the evolution of education and what employers will be demanding from their workforce.

Teacher and students from schools across Hong Kong came to FuturED as well as parents and friends of Island School. Lucy Ogilvie Teacher from Sha Tin College said: “It is a really slick event and it has all been really interesting. The Speakers have touched on things that affect us all.”

Vice Principal Gareth Stevens said: “All our guest speakers addressed issues of change and were prepared to speculate about what the future holds in the area of their specialism. There were discussions about changes in economics, in education, in the media and technology. The panel session towards the end of the day was lively and animated. Everyone was keen to ask questions and to challenge each others thinking.”
