Savannah Rises Up To Win Stars In Their Eyes

Savannah Morris, Year 9 Wilberforce, won the annual ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ show as Andra Day with her rendition of Rise Up on 30 October 2018.

The Stars In Their Eyes talent show sees the finalists from the audition process perform a song by an popular artist, the audience then votes for their favorite act.

“It was a wonderful experience to perform on the stage.” Savannah said, “I had so much fun and winning has encouraged me to sing more!”

As well as the finalists, the night also showcased the musical talents of the orchestra, choir and dancers, from Years 7 – 13. Together they performed: What About As, Believer and Thriller (a Halloween special), ending with a rendition of Mamma Mia, along with the extended applause from the audience.

The audience also received a surprise performance by the teacher’s choir who sang the Monster Mash, dressed in spooky costumes!

Mr. Phil Tudor, Music Teacher said, “I’d like to congratulate all the students that were involved in Stars In their Eyes. All the pieces of music were polished, full of energy, and it was quite easy to forget that this was student production. It was no surprise to me that in the voting, the top 5 scorers were all within 6 votes of one another. This speaks for itself.”

Head of Music Mr Joseph Travers, We would love your feedback on Stars In Their Eyes, we welcome comments from all who saw the show or were involved in the production.
