Rutherford House Sets Big Fund Raising Target for Charity Week.

With a target of over $10,000 Rutherford House has been raising money for charities Amnesty International and the Haiti hurricane relief fund, this week 24-28 October. All the activities planned throughout the week have been organised by the House prefects with support from students from across the Years. Every lunchtime a different activity has been planned.

Monday – Henna and photo booth stall
Tuesday – Bake sale
Wednesday – Dress green and sponsored silence
Thursday – Game stalls
Friday – Haunted house – were students wondered through a spooky maze in a darken room filled with ghostly figures.

Thomas Yik 12R House Prefect explained why the House chose to support their selected charities: “Amnesty campaigns for human rights and freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is something we might take for granted everyday, but for many individuals living under oppressive regimes or in areas with armed conflicts it is simply an intangible concept.”

“Thousands of people have been affected by the devastating hurricane ‘Matthew’ in Haiti this month and support is urgently needed.”

Senior Head of Rutherford House Mr. Chan said: The newly elected House prefect teams and the rest of 12R have been the driving force behind the week, and we have been really impressed with their efforts!”
