Message From The Principal, 8 Dec 2017
Dear Parents and Care givers
It has been another amazing and highly productive week of learning both in and outside our classrooms at Island School. Alongside the second to last week of term programmes there were multiple visits to the new school sites and a range of sport and arts activities.
These activities stretched both learner and teacher alike and whilst there were many highlights I would like to comment particularly on the school production of “His Dark Materials – Part 1”. Our school has an incredibly strong arts programme driven by our passionate arts staff. What makes this program so special is that it gives students of all experience levels the opportunity to explore their talent and develop themselves through creative expression.
The clever and compelling script, amazing costuming, and excellent music of “His Dark Materials – Part 1” provides the perfect opportunity to showcase the talent of our students.
My favourite aspect of this production was the evident creative collaboration between the students and staff that brought this story from the pages of a novel, to the stage at Borrett Road.
Congratulations to Ms Jessica De Borja, Ms Sophie Welsh, Mr Danny Nason and Mrs Mary Lacey Vittachi and all the cast, crew and staff who have delivered this outstanding production.
Warm regards
Stephen
