This Week myself and 5 other members of the Senior management team took part in an ESF conference on wellbeing.

Young people today endure significant pressure as they strive to be the best person they can be whilst dealing with the challenges that adolescence presents.

For this reason it is imperative that all educators have the skills and knowledge to provide the necessary programmes and support.

The conference focused on the “search inside yourself” courses developed by Google.

The themes visited contained references to research and activities for students that include:

• Mindfulness
• Managing emotions
• Self confidence
• Learned optimism

The conference learning will be shared with all ESF teachers at an upcoming Professional Development Day to ensure Island School’s practices for supporting our students stay at the cutting edge.
