Last assembly of term
The new senior prefects opened the last assembly of term with their version of ‘Walking on Sunshine’ displaying their range of musical talent! Videos were shown of the “captivating” performance of ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time’, celebrity filled speaker event FuturED#2 and charity fashion show Anaia, which raised over $50,000 for Maggie’s Cancer Center.
English Teacher Mr Nason named Natasha Mather winner of the creative writer competition. Head of Business Studies Mr Pawlyn presented the team that won the ESF Marketing competition with their trophy. Teacher of Textiles Technology and Visual Arts Ms Tait awarded Maggie Yueh the Amy Coxall Award for Creativity in Design and Performance.
PE Teacher Ms. Worthington talked about the students’ performance at the Inter-schools Athletics competition in which many students won bronze, silver and gold medals. Overall the boys’ team finished in the middle of the table and the girls team finished first moving into division one!
Taka Hoshiyama accepted the Plate on behalf of the A Grade Rugby team following their performance at the Top Ten Schools Rugby tournament.
Awards were given to the most improved and the most valuable players from each of the Basketball teams. The scores from the cross country were announced;

Student Music Teacher and Island School Alumni Scott Hughes together with the Jazz ensemble played faculty and students out with ‘Michelle’ and ‘Blue Funk’.
