Island School Spring Fair 2023 Programme

The rain RSVP’d YES and so should you! Island School Spring Fair 2023 will take place on Friday, 21st April, 2023, 4:00 – 8:30pmrain or shine! Our fair marks the opening of our new Borrett Road campus and is a long-awaited opportunity to bring our community together again. The proceeds from our Spring Fair will primarily be used for student-led sustainability projects. The first of these projects will be the community garden near the rock climbing wall.  It will be enhanced into a long-term space for green projects. Part of the proceeds will also support Island School Trust’s charities.

Please note that all purchases are CASH only. There will be no bottled water sold at the fair, however water bottle refill stations are found throughout the school.

International food hall: Culinary delights with a significant slice of sustainability
Thanks to the cooking mamas and papas, we have an amazing choice of cuisines including Chinese, Japanese, Korean & Southeast Asian. There’s also the Curry Corner, Dim Sum and Hong Kong snacks, pizza and the crowd favourite BBQ with hot dogs as well as Impossible burgers and sliders. Many of these cuisines will also be offering plant-based options of their fabulous foods!  See what you can find!

No meal is complete without a decadent dessert, so do check out the Baker’s Corner with cupcakes, doughnuts, cookies, cakes, egg waffles, Hungarian pastries and much more!  Pre-dining snack options include popcorn, cotton candy, coffee and a selection of European dishes offered in collaboration with our campus dining provider APC. Come hungry, leave satisfied!

The Spring Fair has firmly adopted Island School’s commitment to the environment and  aspires to be our greenest school fair ever!  Support the cause by Bringing Your Own (BYO) food container, water bottle and even cutlery, or use our reusable plates, cutlery & cups available at the food hall. How close can we get to zero-waste?

This year the food hall has several plant-based options: the BBQ stall serves plant-based Impossible Burgers and Sliders. Dim Sum stall serves plant-based Shaomai dumplings, and Curry Corner plant-based curry. Pizza stall serves vegetarian Margherita pizza, and can bake a pizza featuring vegan cheese. There are also other vegetarian options – please enquire from stalls!

Sustainable shopping
A significant number of Island School students actively run WANBO, a group focused on reducing our impact on the Earth. These students will be hosting several stalls selling gently used school uniforms as well as second-hand books aimed for the enjoyment of readers in secondary school and above. We also welcome you to check out the mini kitchenware sale. There is something for everyone. Please bring your own bags!

Prepare your bids for Silent Auction!
No Spring Fair would be complete without a phenomenal line-up of silent auction items. Check the Auction Catalogue for details, and plan on bidding well and winning big! The auction proceeds will benefit Island School Trust’s Nicola and Kenneth bursaries. A big thank you to all our auction donors for their support. We hope you win!

Exciting entertainment featuring Islander talents
Island School students will showcase their art and musical talents throughout the campus. Stay tuned for more information about the fantastic performance and exhibit schedules.
