ISMUN HK 2023

The Island School delegation recently participated in the International Schools Model United Nations (ISMUN) Hong Kong conference, one of the largest inter-school conferences in the city. They debated a variety of pressing issues, from addressing the issue of foreign intervention in Syria to state-sponsored terrorism in Nigeria.

The Island School MUN team distinguished themselves with exceptional performances, with several members receiving top honours, as follows:

Ava Au Yeung – Public Relations Director
Timothy Chan – Best Speaker, Arab League
Chloe Leung – Best Delegate, Security Council
Chapman Cheung – Best Delegate, Disarmament and International Security Council

Chapman Cheung, a senior attending his last high school conference, was also recognised for his exceptional performance at the conference. Over the course of his years in Model UN, Chapman has honed his skills in research, critical thinking, and negotiation. His award is a testament to his years of hard work and dedication to the craft and serves as a fitting recognition for his final high school conference.

The successes of the Island School delegation at ISMUN HK are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of its members. The Model UN programme at Island School has a long-standing history of excellence, and this year’s delegation has continued that tradition with distinction. As the academic year draws to a close, we congratulate all delegates who have participated in conferences throughout the year and commend them for their commitment to excellence in the Model UN programme at Island School.
