Islanders in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic
Congratulations to Islander Thomas Heffernan Ho (Class of 2007, Wilberforce) for representing Hong Kong as the first equestrian rider at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games!
After his impressive performances in 2020, Thomas was selected by the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation for the Tokyo Olympics, earning Hong Kong their first-ever eventing qualification spot in the Games. He and his veteran horse Tayberry competed in the games on 30 July – 2 August in Japan earlier.
“It has been a long journey, but never give up on your dreams, even when times get difficult and there’s a lot of uncertainty in the world. Be passionate about everything you do in life,” said Thomas in the interview with SCMP.
Fleur Schrader, who studied at Island School for five years (Wilberforce) received a Bipartite Commission Invitation with outstanding results, will also be representing Hong Kong in the first-ever para dressage team competition at the Paralympic Games in late August.
