Island School Students at MUN
Students attended the West Island Model United Nations Conference on 3rd-4th June. The theme of the conference was ‘Motion for Change’ and students were fortunate enough to have Guest Speaker Leontine Chuang is the Partnerships Manager at the Foundation for Shared Impact (FSI) as the keynote speaker. Ms Guang had formerly worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and was able to share her experience and advice to delegates. Over the two days students practiced their diplomacy skills debating topics such global water security and the global impact of carbon taxes. Island School students were very successful with the following students receiving awards:

- Shafay Khan (10W): Best Speaker NATO
- Nathan Soo (10F): Best Delegate General Assembly
- Timothy Chan (10D): Best Delegate Human Rights Council
- Cyrus Ng (11F): Best Delegate Security Council
- Chloe Leung (9R) Best Delegate International Court of Justice
- Nicholas Tsang (10E): Best Speaker International Court of Justice
- Jemie Wong (10E): Best Delegate ECOSOC
- Sunwoo Whang (10F) and Johnathan Chan (10W) – Honorable mentions
