Island Innovators Takes 1st Runner Up in Engineering Competition

In late August this year a team of Y12 students consisting of Stella Chen (12D), Peony Chau (12N), Jasmine Yin (12D) and Timothy Chan (12D) won 1st runner up in the Mitsubishi Eco Tech Cup 2024.

Competing as the team ‘Island Innovators’ (@island_innovators on Instagram), they successfully made it through the preliminary round in early August and into the finals, where they then went on to achieve 1st runner up. With the theme being ‘Sustainable Living’, the team created a prototype of an autonomous dehumidifier that utilises water collected by pumping through a hydroponics system. This design led to the team’s success over 200 other student teams from all over Hong Kong.
