IBO Middle Years Programme Authorisation Success

We are delighted to announce that Island School is now authorized to offer the IBO Middle Years Programme (MYP) in years 7 and 8. The authorisation report recognises the community’s commitment to the programme over the last 2 years as well as the extensive planning and preparation by the steering group and MYP team of teachers.

Our report highlighted many commendations including the diversity of experience for students and our international mindedness. The visiting team was very impressed with the inclusive nature of our school and the support we offered students through our thrive, SEN and language learning programmes. They highlighted our commitment to ongoing professional development to improve and develop our curriculum.

While there was plenty to celebrate, they also encouraged us to consider how we communicate our assessment and reporting grades to parents. This is a timely reminder, in particular with Semester One overview grades coming out to year 7 and 8 parents January 20th, and we hope to bring you more extensive information in January. Rest assured teachers are using their collaborative planning times on Friday afternoons to ensure consistency across and between departments.
