Fleming House Charity Assembly
Fleming House came together for their charity assembly on 27 Feb, 2019. The House is supporting Hong Kong Children’s Cancer Foundation and HUSK Cambodia this year.
In October students raised money by completing a sponsored silence and run, holding a bake sale, a dress red day and soaking the teacher. Their efforts raised HK$50,000.
At the assembly, representatives from the charities explained to students their work. Karen and Sia from 12F handed a cheque for $25,170 to the Development Director of HK Children’s Cancer Foundation, Lucille Wong.
The Year 11F students talked about their volunteer work in Cambodia during Quest Week 2018, working with the charity Husk Cambodia. They saw how the $25,000 that, Fleming House had previously donated, was being used to build homes and schools, supporting the local community who are trying to earn their way out of poverty by working in and around the local tourist business.
Senior Head of House Mr Phil Tudor said, “Whilst the subject matter was sobering, we all left the assembly proud to see the benefits of all our fundraising efforts.”
