Einstein House Charity Week
Einstein House, this week, has been raising money for Katja House a charity started in 1997 which bought land near Kathmandu and then built a home on it for orphan children. The charity Katja House aims to support the children in its care from primary school through to tertiary education, providing a caring and safe environment that permits the children to grow into successful and happy adults.
Throughout the week students across the school have been ordering from the Valentines Delivery. Year 12E have been delivering orders for chocolates, roses, balloons and most notably songs to students and staff of Island School.
On Thursday the Einstein Extravaganza took place. Students from Years 10 and 11 ran a bake sale. Year 9 ran gaming stalls and Year 8s held a Guess the Cookies in a Jar competition. Both Year 7 and 8 performed a whole class dance and other house members sang.
Senior Head of House Paul Harries said; “ The Einstein Charity week has been an impressive effort from the entire house and we have successfully raised more than enough money to support Einstein’s sponsored child Nima Sherpa for another year.” “Particular mention must go to the Year 12 charity team ( Caitlyn Chan, Carmen Li, Brian Chan, Kathy Ko, Deborah Kwong, Saiesha Hardasani and Alice Qi) who have worked tirelessly throughout recent weeks to ensure the success of the event and the Valentines Delivery.”
