Christmas Concert Mixes Traditional Music and Modern Classics

With a mix of traditional yuletide chamber music and modern Christmas classics 80 Island School students performed an evening of festive music on the 15 December 2015.

The Chamber Choir, Junior Choir, String Orchestra, Wind Band and Jazz Group got everyone in the holiday mood by performing; Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Anfonaf Angel and Holly Jolly Christmas amongst others. Elin Berg and Jonathan Fan both sang solos in a rousing performance of ‘One More Sleep’. Soprano Gemma Kwok sang the first verse solo in Once in Royal David City. The evening ended with some community carol singing, ‘which really raised the roof’.

Head of Music, Jo-Anne Trevenna said; “The evening was the perfect start to Christmas, with seasonal music being played and sung at the highest standard. I was extremely proud of what our students achieved.”
