BTEC Students Get Down To Business in Thailand

At the Maekok River Valley Resort in Northern Thailand the Year 12 BTEC Business and Hospitality students learnt about the business of running a luxury resort and education centre, 27 Feb – 3 Mar 2017.

In interviews with different department heads they asked how they ensure excellent customer service. They took part in several practical activities including visiting a local market and cooking lunch for the 100 students staying in the education centre. They also took part in an angry customer role play were they had to explain what activities are available. In teams students were challenged to make up a room ready for guest check-in.

The students also hiked to a local hill tribe and temple and participated in different team building activities.

Head of business Studies, Ben Pawlyn: “We were very proud of the students. Throughout the week they worked with enthusiasm and commitment, but more than this, they came together as a team, helping, learning and supporting one another to make a real success of their trip.”
