Alumni Talk with Sam Hui
We had a fantastic opportunity to hear from Sam, an alumnus of Island School (Class of 2023), who is currently studying History and Politics at the University of Cambridge. He just completed an internship with the Hong Kong Government. The panel discussion, moderated by Year 11 student Ava Lin, was well-attended and provided valuable insights into Sam’s academic and professional journey. He expressed his gratitude for the strong support he received from his teachers, HE counsellors, and friends at Island School. Sam always enjoys coming back to share his experiences.
Students left the event feeling inspired and equipped with new ideas. They asked questions about choosing IB subjects and how to effectively showcase their passions during the Cambridge admissions process.
During his time at Island School, Sam showed remarkable leadership as Head Student and Student President. He led various initiatives, including his role as Chair of the ESF Student & Sustainability Council, founding the Global Politics & MG20 platform, and organising community projects to support underprivileged children through Kids4Kids. Sam also excelled in subjects like English, History, and Economics, leaving a positive mark on our school community.
