A Teacher I Will Never – Scott
Mr. Scott was the teacher that came to my mind when I was asked this question. Throughout the 7 years that I’ve studied in Island School, Mr. Scott has been there for me in more ways than one. I still remember my first few weeks as a Year 7 student, overwhelmed and shy. I was at my first House assembly and Mr. Scott gave a short speech that aimed to encourage us to try something new this academic year. His speech that day really stuck with me and inspired me to sign-up for the girls’ football activity, even though I had no clue how to kick a ball. Through my participation in this activity, I gained some self-confidence, no only with the sport, but with interacting with other students. It was the first time that I truly felt comfortable and part of the Island School community. Since then, Mr. Scott has been my teacher, mentor and football coach, who has guided me through many tough times and has pushed me to be the best version of myself. I consider myself very lucky to have been taught by Mr. Scott and to have received all the wisdom and guidance that he has to offer.
