Teams qualify for the International History Bee and Bowl Competition Asian finals
At the International History Bee and Bowl Competition, on 27th Feb, Island School students either won their round or made it to the finals qualifying for the Asian finals in Thailand.
At the competition hosted by Hong Kong International School (HKIS) individuals and teams compete against each other in a battle of their historical knowledge. History Teacher Mr Budd said; “Island School performed outstandingly well, being the biggest contingent of students at the event with 6 teams. It was a tough competition with 38 teams competing including Harrow, HKIS, CDNIS and South Island. Special praise goes to Gabriel Chan of 11W who won 1st place in the Junior Varsity Bee category and Justin Yu of 12D who reached the finals in the Varsity category. Our Year 9, 10 and 12 Bowl teams also did amazingly well to reach the finals.”
“All our finalists have now qualified for the Asian Regional Championships in Thailand with a good chance of reaching the World finals in Hawaii this year.”
This competition will be running next year, so students should contact Mr. Budd if they would also like to take part.
