Winter Fair 2024: A Night to Remember

On Friday, November 22, the Island School and ISPTA community came alive for the much-anticipated annual Winter Fair—an evening filled with food, fun and festive spirit. Here are some of the highlights from this memorable event:

This year’s Merry Marketplace dazzled with a treasure trove of vendors offering everything from holiday cards and toys to organic beauty products. Our PTA stalls were a hit, featuring quality kitchenware at unbeatable prices and gently used books and uniforms that flew off the shelves! The evening also featured a lively staff-led silent auction benefiting the IS-trust Nicola & Kenneth charities, plus exclusive IS-branded dry bags and travel gear.

The marketplace buzzed with creativity as students showcased their handmade art, while the Connected Communities team sponsored Christmas gifts for teenage moms. Our Island School Alumni gathered to promote collaboration with the school, adding an extra layer of community spirit.

Meanwhile, the G/F buzzed with live performances from STARS, alumni, and the Beacon Hill choir, creating an uplifting atmosphere. Families savored a culinary journey through various cultural food stalls—Chinese, Mediterranean, Hungarian, Southeast Asian, and more—while sweet treats from our popular baked goods stall, Taiwanese drinks, and hot coffee delighted palates. Vendors offered burgers and crepes, with Haidilao providing some delightful tricks and candy floss!

The sports hall was a hub of excitement with house games featuring plushie prizes, keeping the students entertained throughout the evening.

Overall, it was a fantastic night showcasing our vibrant and diverse community. A huge thank you to the ISPTA Winter Fair Committee, staff, and parent volunteers for their hard work and dedication in making this the most successful Winter Fair yet! All proceeds will support student-led projects aimed at enhancing IS students’ learning experiences. We’ll keep you updated on how the funds will be utilised.
