Global Goals Fast Fashion Partnership
Last week, the Global Goals Council held our Fast Fashion Clothing Competition in collaboration with WANBO and Laurence S. Ting School in Vietnam for Redress Week.
Through this competition, both schools aimed to introduce and recognise the environmental impacts of clothing production in their respective countries. After introducing the causes and effects of fast fashion in a collaborative video
showcased during a school assembly, Island School houses were given the opportunity to form teams of 5 and upwards to recreate their own outfits using second-hand clothing donated by our students.
Each team crafted an outfit on a mannequin and students were given the opportunity to vote for an outfit they liked the most on a Google Form. Winners of the competition would get the chance to compete against student designers from Vietnam in the near future. On Wednesday, a display was also set up in the courtyard for students to witness firsthand the clothing pieces on the mannequins.
A reminder that the form for voting is still up, so get your votes in before the form closes at the start of term 3! For any inquiries regarding the competition, please contact evan.zhang@online.island.edu.hk or onkei.lam@online.island.edu.hk.
