ISPTA 3-Part Parent Speaker Series
As part of our commitment to support student and parental wellbeing, ISPTA had the pleasure of sponsoring a 3-part Parent Speaker Series for our parent community. Our guest of honor was Dr. Mark Gandolfi, a well-established and renowned mental health and wellness practitioner with over 40 years of expertise working with children and families.
In his first session, held in-person on 29 February, Dr. Mark shared knowledge and practical tips for self / emotional regulation as the core for effective parenting, as well as use in personal relationships and in the workplace. During the second session, held via Zoom on 21 March, Dr. Mark went on to discuss parenting tips and strategies to boost student wellbeing. Finally, Dr. Mark led the third session, again via Zoom, on 25 April, where he focused on parenting to promote positive social media engagement. This is a very relevant topic for so many of our socially diverse community members, and our parents were grateful to Dr. Mark for sharing strategies that parents can use to navigate a range of challenges of social media use that our adolescents may be experiencing.
ISPTA was very pleased that our primary schools’ parents of Glenealy, Peak and Beacon Hill also joined us in these sessions. All parents found great added-value and we look forward to deepening our engagement on these and other topics together in the future.
